At CISSLY, we have set ourselves the challenge to create a safe feeling for our customers by means of fashion. To reach this feeling, the design of the clothes is very important. Smooth lines and powerful designs are the key to our concept. The clothes will protect our customers in different ways. High necklines, Long designs and strong materials are some examples. The most vulnerable parts of the body will be protect by a strong fabric made of spider silk.

The trend of sustainable, environment friendly and ethical products is constantly growing. This creates new opportunities to add more strength to our consumer by adding sustainable value to out products. Materials which are biodegradable are our first step into the environment friendly path. Our second step is to find a way to recycle these materials and to make the products' lifecycle longer. CISSLLY will be working with special pattern plan. This means all our patterns will each be 100% made out of 1 material. That process will make the recycling part of the products easier.

CISSLLY´s collection is mainly made out of 3 fabrics: Spider Silk, Pinatex and Palm leather. Because of these strong materials our collection provides a protective feeling to the wearer. CISSLLY also thinks about the environment through the materials she uses. These materials are degradable and some have the possibility to be recycled and reused. Underneath our main materials will be explained.

Spider Silk

Spider silk contains very strong fibers, these fibers are stab resistant. The spokes of the silk spider happen to be five times stronger than a steel wire of the same thickness. It is possible to make the fibers stronger by increasing the percentage of the spider silk. CISSLLY will be using this material in most of the garments to provide that secureness.

Palm leather

Palm leather is made from the trunk of the Areca palm mainly found in India. The fallen palm fronds are seen as waste. Tjeerd Veenhoven designed an idea to reuse the palm fronds and turn them into leather. At first the leaves are dried and after the drying process the fronds are flexible and strong. The palm leather could be compared to rubber and normal leather. CISSLLY uses palm leather in different pattern pieces throughout the collection and also in the details.

Pinatex

Carmen Hijosa is the mastermind behind Pinatex. Pinatex is leather made of fibres from the pinapple leaves. Making leather out of the leaves is a good initiative because it minimizes the waste within the local agriculture. To produce the leather no extra water, fertilized or ground is needed. CISSLLY uses Pinatex in different pattern pieces throughout the collection and in the details.
